We are very happy for the National Geographic Traveler, Sept 2009 issue with a Wisconsin Rail- Riding- Reinvented for Two Wheels Article that featured the Franklin Victorian B&B and our Sparta area businesses. Elroy-Sparta State Trail is a three-hour drive south-east of the Twin Cities. Elroy-Sparta can be conquered in a day ride. Recharge your batteries and stay with us and visit other local businesses.

Sparta Rudy’s Drive-In Finally Opens

Rudy’s Drive-In Opens at Water and Wisconsin streets in Sparta. The menu will be the same as his La Crosse restaurant has. “And we’ll have roller-skating car hops, the same as in La Crosse,” he said. The major difference will be in how food orders are taken. In Sparta, Rudy said, “Car hops will come up to your car with a hand-held PC and take your order,” and will transmit it electronically.

“The menu has evolved from more than just chili dogs, french fries and root beer,” Rudy said. Recent additions to the menu include buffalo burgers, The Historic Trempealeau Hotel Walnut Burger, more chicken items and the use of trans-fat free oil for all fried foods.“The menu has evolved from more than just chili dogs, french fries and root beer,” Rudy said.
