Do you want to hunt for hidden treasure? If the answer is “YES!” then head out to Whitetail Ski Ridge Area, for an exciting snowbound Geo-Caching event in Sparta, WI. Caches are hidden at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area and can be located using a handheld GPS unit. Once you find the cache, fill out the entry form inside and turn in at the ski chalet for your change to win a Magellan eXplorist GC Handheld GPS ($195. value)!
The contest begins Jan 1 and continues through Mar 1.

Rails to Trails Full & Half Marathon races, Norwalk WI 2010

Mark your calendar now to come out to Norwalk Wisconsin on November 7 for the 3rd Annual Rails to Trails Marathon races. Be it that you attend as a participant or a spectator, the Rails to Trails Marathon is a fun and exciting marathon race which is not only a race for die-hard runners, but is walker friendly as well.
In addition to the full marathon there will also be a half marathon, 1 mile Fun Run, 5K and a Chicken-Que which is included in the full Marathon and half Marathon entry fee.  Click Here for the complete schedule.
For those who want to run the marathon races, there are aid stations with water, sprort drinks and medical aid available every 2 miles.

If you arrive on November 6, there is a Spaghetti Dinner at the Norwalk Community Center which is included in the Marathon and half Marathon entry fee as well.

Norskedalen (which means the Norwegian Valley), is a nature and heritage center dedicated to preserving, interpreting and sharing the natural environment and cultural heritage of the area surrounding Coon Valley in southwest Wisconsin.

Haunted Halloween Hike
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, October 27, 28, & 29 2010
Wednesday will be the Pumpkin Walk, Thursday and Friday are the Haunted Hikes. All hike start times are 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. Note: after 7 pm. hikes will be SUPER SCARY.
Take a half-mile walk through the many haunting, chilling and thrilling spook stations situated along one of our wooded trails lined by hundreds of carved, lit pumpkins. You will end up with a treat and hot apple cider at Bekkum Homestead at the end of the hike to regain your wits!
ADVANCE RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENTS REQUIRED – $7 per body until October 19, 2010; $8 per body October 20 – 29. Make your reservations today, this event sold out last year!

From May 1, 2010 – Oct 31, 2010 and for only $29.00 per couple, Bike & People Shuttle Service, our Wisconsin inns shuttle service will ferry your bicycles and YOU to drop off locations at Elroy, Kendall, Wilton, or Norwalk all along the Elroy-Sparta State Bike Trail!

Then you can enjoy the whole bike trail and its wonderful tunnels! You will also be able to enjoy the surrounding Drift less areas and visit the nearby State Bike Trail.

We shuttle out shortly after breakfast, doing only one shuttle per day and this exclusive service is for our valued lodging guests only.

Today the Elroy-Sparta state bike trails opened for the season. I thought I would let you know that I took our guests on a shuttle to Elroy today and then they will be riding back to the bed and breakfast. I stopped on the way back in Wilton to meet the new owners of Pettera’s Country Thyme Cafe’ (formally Gina’s Pies R Square) because I had heard it had sold. I meet the new owners and they are very nice and look forward to meeting all the bicyclist this season. So, stop in and say hello, rest and have some food. They are now open for breakfast & lunch & have added menu items. Their hours are Monday closed, Tue, Wed, Thur 8-3, Fri & Sat 8-8 and Sun 8-2. Take time to rest during your bike trip and look around their shop after eating.
