Tea Time at the Museum presents Barn Quilts – Sparta, Wisconsin

February 17 Thursday 4 pm at the Deke Slayton Space and Bicycle Museum, Sparta, Wisconsin

The 41st Tea Time at the Museum will present an interesting program on BARN QUILTS from Green County, WI. The Tea Committee recently toured Green County with their 90 barns featuring quilt squares on barns of all sizes and shapes. This is a unique opportunity to view these quilts and perhaps this could be a future project for Monroe County.

Sandie Perry and Joan Cook will present the program.

Kisses gift in a Jar-  A jar of Hershey kisses will remind the recipient of how much they are loved, here at the Franklin Victorian Bed & Breakfast. in Sparta, Wisconsin.

• The person who guesses the correct number (or closest to) wins a $50 gift certificate to the Franklin Victorian Bed & Breakfast, Sparta, WI and the second place winner wins the “Hershey Kisses Gift in a Jar” of candy!
• Entries will take place during the months of  February 1 to April 1. The winners will be announced on  April 2, 2011. We will contact the winners by phone or email, and announce on Facebook and Twitter.
• Guess as close as you can without going over the number of candies in the jar.  (One guess only please)!

Ft McCoy Winter Extravaganza, Sparta, Wisconsin

Winter Extravaganza set for Jan. 29, 2011 at Whitetail ridge Ski Area in Sparta, WI.  Activities for Fort McCoy’s Winter Extravaganza 2011 will be held at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area from 9 am -5pm. Saturday, Jan 29. The event is hosted by Fort McCoy Outdoor Recreation. Among the highlights will be an adventure race, FREE ski and snowboard lessons, slalom races, ski/snowboard rail jam, snow pile dig, and an obstacle course.  Discounted lift tickets will be available.  The event is open to the public.

Do you want to hunt for hidden treasure? If the answer is “YES!” then head out to Whitetail Ski Ridge Area, for an exciting snowbound Geo-Caching event in Sparta, WI. Caches are hidden at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area and can be located using a handheld GPS unit. Once you find the cache, fill out the entry form inside and turn in at the ski chalet for your change to win a Magellan eXplorist GC Handheld GPS ($195. value)!
The contest begins Jan 1 and continues through Mar 1.

Rotary Clubs of the Coulee Region present Rotary Lights 2010

Rotary Clubs of the Coulee Region announce the 15th annual Rotary Lights display.  This annual tradition that began back in 1995 as a gift to the Coulee Region is a cooperative effort of the eight Rotary Clubs, numerous non-profit groups and volunteer organizations.
The size of the event has grown as well with nearly 200,000 visitors per year enjoying the holiday tradition. In addition there is a Live Nativity, Live Reindeer, 5K Fun Run/Walk, Hay Rides and a parade through town to kick it all off just to mention a few.

The Rotary Lights is held in beautiful Riverside Park where you can drive or walk and admire the spectacular light displays.  The Park opens Friday November 26 with a parade starting from downtown at 5 PM.  There-after the park opens daily at 5 PM thru New Years Eve and the park closes each day at 10 PM.

Admission: FREE.  Donations of cash or non-perishable food at exit of park appreciated.  All proceeds go to benefit the local food banks.

Be sure to add Sparta Wisconsin’s Holiday Parade and Holiday in the Park event as well to your travel plans. This event in Sparta is held only on December 3rd in the downtown area.

Twilight On Water Street 2010, Sparta Wisconsin

The 3rd annual Twilight on Water Street in Historic Downtown Sparta is October 14, 2010.

Hurry and get tickets because there are only 250 tickets available! From 5:00 – 7:00pm receive a gift bag and special items at each store and walk thru the shops of Historic Downtown Sparta and enjoy shopping, dessert, a Style Show and prizes at Jake’s starting at 7:30pm!

Advance Tickets will be sold at the Quilt Corner Sept 27-Oct 1 only.  Post-advance tickets go on sale October 2 at participating Water Street merchants for $10 each.

Sparta Wisconsin Fall Fest 2010 in Historic Downtown Sparta

SPARTA WISCONSIN FALL FEST, Saturday October 2nd, 2010 in Historic Downtown Sparta.  Presented by the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce. Come out to Sparta and Celebrate Fall!!

Attend the Sparta Wisconsin Fall Fest and you could win great prizes, take part in a Pie Contest, Pumpkin Decorating Contest, watch a Pet & People Costume parade and much more!  Come and shop in the Historic Downtown District for fantastic sales during the Fall Fest!

Oktoberfest of La Crosse Wisconsin 2010

Oktoberfest in La Crosse is in its Golden Celebration this year. This festival is one of the Midwest’s largest German festivals.

Events include the Maple Leaf Parade and Torchlight Parade, live music, run/walk, kids activities, food, concessions, contests, games, carnival rides and athletic tournaments.

Most events are held at the Oktoberfest Grounds, 1 Oktoberfest Strasse, La Crosse.

Festival runs from September 24 – October 2.
