Southwest Wisconsin Wine Trail and Sparta, Wisconsin

Today the Sun is shining, the birds are singing and the snow is melting in Southwest Wisconsin. There is hope that this summer will make memories for you all as you travel to the Southwest part of Wisconsin and visit the many places to see and many things to do.

You will fine grape wines, many made from grapes grown by the winery, fruit wines and mead (wine made from honey). Winter Extravaganza at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area -Sparta, Wisconsin

The annual Winter Extravaganze at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, located by Fort McCoy.

Scheduled activities include slalom races, snowboard rail jam, snow adventure race, snow-pile dig, big air, gunny sack race, and an obstacle course. The event is open to the public.

Skiing, X-Country Skiing and Snow Tubing in Wisconsin Now Open!

December 30, 2012 – 1:10 am

Come to Sparta, Wisconsin – WE HAVE THE SNOW for some of the Best Skiing, X-country Skiing, Snow Tubing and Snow shoeing around. Fort McCoy’s Whitetail Ridge Ski Area is now open and will offer expanded Saturday hours. Regular Friday hours will be 4:30-9pm. Saturday hours will begin at 10 a.m. and run to 9 p.m. Sunday hours are noon-6 p.m.

Skiers and snowboarders will have access to slopes ranging from beginning levels to those with a vertical drop of more than 185 feet and up to 1,300 feet in length.
Snowtubers will have five 800-foot-long tubing lanes to enjoy.
Cross-Country skiing trails also are available if natural snow conditions permit.
Come, relax and warm yourselves in the chalet, get snacks at the snack bar and rent equipment if you need. A warming area and bonfire pit at the bottom of the skiing/snowtubing slopes also are available. The National Ski Patrol will provide safety support for the facility. This area is 5 miles from the Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast where you can stay overnight and ski or tube by day. We would love for you to stay with us and keep warm and sip on hot-coco when you return from a full fun day outdoors.

Biking trail tunnel Pick your ride based on your skill level! Because along the Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail there are over 101 miles of connecting trails for all levels. You can get a bike shuttle from the Franklin Victorian Bed & Breakfast when you are our guests and we will shuttle you to any of the small towns along the trail depending on your level and the miles you would like to go. It is more down hill from the Elroy end back to Sparta. We have the daily and annual bike passes on-site for you to purchase also. Come join the fuel-efficient adventure! “Biking” and come to Sparta, Wisconsin. It is a great individual, group or family activity. Plus, a healthy way to enjoy your summer! Calendar of Events Civil War Fun Ideas

Civil War Demonstration Event in Sparta, Wisconsin

June 18, 2012 – 2:00 pm

Sparta will host a free Civil War demonstration and program that will be presented on the Monroe County Courthouse lawn, Court and Main Street, Sparta, Wisconsin. This event will happen just walking distance from the Franklin Victorian Bed and Breakfast.

June 30, 2012, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Watch musket firing, taste Hardtack, play games from the 1800s, do fun crafts, witness drill demonstration and much more. The event is FREE family fun for all ages. Rain location is the Local History Room, 200 W. Main St., Sparta, just across the street.
