Buena Vista Park & Danzinger Vineyards & Winery near Sparta, Wisconsin. When you come to Southwest Wisconsin the Hidden Valleys area, there is sidebar-activities-8something wonderful to see and do at this time of the year.  Our guests have told us about Buena Vista Park in Alma, Wisconsin.  They came to go “Birding” and at this time of the year the birds are spectacular.  It is a small park with a big view of the Mississippi River for several miles to the north and the south. The raptor migration along this area of the river is amazing in the Spring you can see Red-trailed Hawks, Peregrine Falcons and Broad-winged Hawks. The wood area have a lot of songbirds including Baltimore Orioles, Scarlet Tanagers, Great-crested Flycatchers and Red-bellied Woodpeckers. 608-685-6234.

When you are done Birding you can go visit a wonderful Winery, “The Danzinger Vineyards & Winery“. Stop in to enjoy our free wine tasting at the only winery with a bluff top view of the mighty Mississippi one mile east of Alma on county road E. 608-685-6000 for more information.

Burr Oak Winery, a growing Wisconsin Winery

In their 6th year of wine making, Burr Oak Winery, has continued to grow and prosper.
It all started with the first grapes being planted in 1997 with more vines being added yearly since that time. Most recently they opened up 4 new acres of vineyards.

Owners Steve & Judy Kennedy began construction of their Wisconsin winery back in July of 2003 and craftly incorporated several 100 year old stained glass windows they found at an auction into the design of the winery.

Burr Oak Winery has held their Spring & Fall Festivals for the past several years at the winery plus there are many other wonderful events for one to enjoy. Coming up later this summer there is the ‘Midsummer Nights’ an evening vineyard walk from July 31 thru August 14 at 7pm. There is also the ‘Havest Festival’ the weekend of September 11 & 12 from 11am to 5pm.

As you make plans to come to our bed and breakfast in Sparta Wisconsin, you may wish to include a short road trip to Burr Oak Winery.
