Franklin Granola

Franklin Granola

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes

 Ingredients

5 cups rolled oats
1 1/2 C shelled sunflower seeds
1 1/2 C wheat germ
1 1/2 C shredded coconut
1 1/2 C flaked bran (or All Bran)
1 1/2 C chopped pecans
1 1/2 C chopped walnuts
1 1/2 C slivered almonds
3/4 C sesame seeds


Sauce
3/4 C vegetable or canola oil
3/4 C honey
3/4 C molasses
1 1/2 Tsp almond extract
1 1/2 Tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

Mix first 7 above ingredients in a very large bowl and set aside.
In a large saucepan, bring the sauce 5 ingredients to a boil and cook for 4 minutes.
*WATCH THIS VERY CLOSELY BECAUSE IT WILL BUBBLE OVER VERY QUICKLY. ADJUST HEAT AND STIR.
Pour slowly over the dry ingredients in the very large bowl. Place all ingredients evenly on two sheet pans and put in 350 degree oven. Let toast for 5-8 minutes. Take out of oven and stir all ingredients. Place back in oven for 4 minutes; bring out and stir. Repeat 3 to 4 more times. Watch carefully, so it doesn't get to brown. Oven vary so watch. Cool thoroughly and sprinkle with raisins. (optional) Note: If granola clumps, try placing it back in the oven and toast a bit more. It all so help while it is cooling to stir on pan.
*Freezes very well
