On Saturday, October 1, 2016, the cranberry will king of Warren, Wisconsin and the surrounding area! One day each year, Cranberry Harvest Day is celebrated with special events, tastings, and tours around the cranberry marshes.

The Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center will be a hot spot of activity that day. The center will be open from 8 am to 4 pm with special events beginning at 9 am. Stroll through the exhibit hall to get a great overview of the cranberry industry in the area.  Lunch will be available at the center too. The featured food items will – of course – include cranberries in the recipes. Enjoy cranberry bratwursts or sliders and wonderful cranberry baked goods. For dessert, choose from five flavors of cranberry ice cream!

DnA Vintners specializes in producing cranberry wines and their flavorful wines will be available for tasting at the Cranberry Discovery Center. There are health benefits to drinking cranberry wines too. Did you know that this special beverage is high in antioxidants and rich in flavonoids – so be sure to purchase some of their wines for your good health!

At Wetherby Cranberry Company, they set aside several of the areas to show different stages of the harvesting process. Take photos and videos of all the action. Wetherby family members will be your person guides on the tours. Ask all the questions you have about cranberries – these folks know cranberries and the process to grow, harvest, and prepare cranberries for sale. The packaging warehouse will offer fresh cranberries for sale on this special Harvest Day celebration.

October is also apple season. At the Rex Moseley Fruit and Vegetable Farm, located on Cortland Avenue in Warren, you can pick your own apples on this special harvest day. The farm will be open from 9 am to 5 pm. In addition to picking apples, you can also purchase fresh seasonal vegetables such as squash and cabbage. From 1 pm to 4 pm, taste and vote on your favorite new hybrid apple that Rex is cultivating.

At the Moseley Roadside Market, located on County Highway O, take a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch to choose your own pumpkin for $5. Other seasonal items will be available too. Purchase your fall decorating vegetables like gourds and Indian corn. Purchase yummy fall fruits and vegies like melons, sweet potatoes, honet, jams and jellies.

The Cranberry Harvest Day is a day to celebrate the fruit of the land and the marshes! Come out and enjoy the cool fall weather, the colors of autumn, and the flavors of this wonderful season.
